Brentford Football Club Charity Song for Phillipines. Come on You Brentford

Football fans are not usually associated with melodic tunes nor inspirational lyrics. A group of Brentford fans associated with a local group, According To you, have got together to produce a single entitled ” Come on you Brentford”. This is neither a number one nor does it pretend to be. What it is , is a humble tune sold for a humble price 99p in iTunes. All proceeds going to the Phillipines disaster fund. The music collective “Soundhive” also should take a lot of credit. Korea Foods have paid all the production costs.

Perhaps if everyone who read this could share this information ( and my blog if they like), a few souls will indeed purchase this great little tune. I paid up my 99p this morning and the tune is driving my wife mad but quite liked by my children! A decent result.

Why my passion here? Well having been to the Phillipines a number of times and seen the poverty yet resilience of the folks there, they deserve to be helped. On my main photographic web site my front page is a photo taken of the seafront in Manila. This is no average seafront. This is a family living by rescuing empty bottles from the sea and what is eupemistically termed the beach.  These are real people. Do they types of folks deserve to lose the little that they have through a natural disaster? I do not think so. 99p. What else does that buy? Please do spread this story widely to the media in your area and country and buy the record. And by the way, Brentford are a great little football club in league 1 in England and would love to hear how you all are doing. The link to purchase is below, but iTunes is easy for most

Foggy A 3 Looking like a scene from Dr Who

Again occasionally the I Phone gets a decent photo. The A 3 around Esher is always worse from weather viewpoint!

Weather Report from Scandinavia

It seems I am replicating the Grand Tour but instead of Italy am focusing on Scandinavia. All that I am trying to do is get back from Copenhagen to London. However last night having got onto a plane and sat there for 2 hours it became too windy for the ground staff to work. This also meant that they could not connect the air bridge so we were all stuck on the plane.  Today the weather is a little less stormy but snow has arrived. Copenhagen airport is chaos, with people and queues everywhere. The pushing and shoving at the gates reminds me of Rugby League. Mr Angry is out in force and has been cloned too. Mr Important is standing there shouting into his phone that ” he has to get to Bejing”. Which is where most folks might wish to place him. Restaurants are packed selling high priced pizza and hot dogs. Most folks are surgically attached to wine or/and beer glasses.

Somehow I escaped on a plane to Stockholm that then promised me a trip to London however the london flight was cancelled along with most other flights. So I am here in Stockholm Arlanda Airport, most likely all night. The queues to book at the SAS ticket centres stretch around 200 yards or longer and just keep on getting longer. The staff are doing their best and remain cheerful and pleasant and SAS cannot be criticised at all.

For those of you who would like to experience this joy a few photos. As for the weather, well cold, windy, actually very cold and very windy and lots of snow here. Posted 8 pm. A glass of wine for me

The Hilton hotel is at Copenhagen airport and the sky shows that snow was coming. The queues you will have to just work out as they were endless. The pushing at the Gate. Well thats easy. The folks sitting on the baggage carousel was last night at Copenhagen. They may well still be there!photo

These photos seriously are on the internet advertising a flat for rent. They have induced much mirth already.  But seriously how can you think that anyone will be attracted to this? Is there even someone in that bed? Are they dead?

Harbour Restaurant at Copenhagen Island Hotel

Rarely do I get excited about the prospect of eating in a hotel restaurant when travelling and usually my reservations are reasonable. Food rarely comes above the above acceptable because I am not paying mark. This hotel is an exception. Firstly it is a great hotel, not far from the airport and right next to the local train station so imagine it would be a good base for visiting Copenhagen.

The menu is small, maybe 4 options for each course, 3 for dessert. Very fish based and no chicken in sight on the menu. The food is excellent, the service is good and the ambience and view of the harbour is exceptional. Well recommended.

The food looks good as well. Starter was two types of cod on a beetroot base, two slags in fact. Main was baked salmon on red onions with wild rice and asparagus. Dessert was poached pear with ice cream and berries with a crumble base. Best dinner for a long time.

Cost 400 Danish Kroner, somewhere in the 40£ region including a beer.

Is this Jose Mourinho or Roman Abramovich Car? Anyone know the numberplate?

Saw this rather nice car parked outside St Pancras Renaissance Hotel today.  Numberplate reads BO55 CFC. So is this boss of Chelsea? Charlton? Curious to know.

A New Hotel in Terminal 3 Heathrow Airport

Well sort of. Was worried that these folks might kick each other in the head and the advert for the restuarant behind amused me. Enjoy as there is little else to enjoy about Terminal 3

Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa

A truly amazing hotel situated on the outskirts of Helsinki essentially by the edge of the sea and in a forest. The hotel has three buildings that are connected by tunnels. The rooms are warm, the people friendly, the hotel quite different. Well worth a visit. These photos were taken outside the hotel and in the foyer. The photos are all taken with the I Phone so not a great standard of course.
