Copenhagen Animal Competition. Any idea what animal made these paw prints in the snow?

After a freezing night in Copenhagen where the outside temperature was minus 8 degrees, I awoke in my hotel to see out of the window some animal paw prints on the roof of the kitchen below, so roughly first storey level of a UK house. Any ideas what animal it was walking around in the night but not for long it seems? My initial thought was Urban Fox but I have no idea if these are prevalent in Copenhagen. Other options include cat or presumably stray dog.

Under 21 League. Brentford 1 Colchester 2. Photos

If anyone has a spare couple of hours on mondays it is well worth going to watch the  Bees under 21 side in action as you might be seeing the stars of the future. A decent game of which there are plentiful and excellent match reports elsewhere, so I will limit this to a few photographs on mostly a blustery day. The two players who did stand out for Brentford were Josh Clarke and Jan Holldack . A highly competitive and physical game.

Drive-by yoghurt attack on crochet teacher’s haberdashery leaves her shaken and Other West Country Mad Stories. These have to be read to be believed.

It may be mean but I have been laughing for two days about the ” Drive by Yoghourt attack”.

The full story is here:

http://www.centralsomersetgazette.co.uk/Drive-yoghurt-attack-crochet-teacher-s/story-28590287-detail/story.html

Alison Nurton, founder of the Sherborne haberdashery Butterfly Bright, was arriving at her new premises on Cheap Street to teach a crochet workshop at around 7.05pm on Wednesday, January 20, when a yoghurt was thrown at her and the entrance to the shop.

Some of the comments too are hilarious an surely reminiscent of a Clouseau or Mr Bean film. Or maybe a follow up to Hot Fuzz, which come to think of it was that film not made on location in the West Country?

“The hunt is on for a yoghurt throwing convertible driver after two drive-by dairy attacks in Dorset”

“Frightening and quite upsetting” yoghurt incident shocks South West town” (Sherborne in dorset)

But I save the best for last here.

“It seems it wasn’t an isolated incident as another yoghurt pot was seen on the pavement outside the Crown Pub on the A30 the same night”

So the Sherborne streets are littered with yoghurt pots…..weapons of terror. I have consulted as one does Wikipedia to see how they define “weapons” and there is currently no entry for Yoghurt Pot.

The stories however just keep on coming…

An excellent opening goal for Woking from Bruno Andrade00000027The game was fairly end to end and both goalkeepers were kept busy.

000000320000000900000025Maybe the linesman also wanted a piece of the action? And a little maybe of Halifax rugby league also?

Things You Only See At Non-League Football. Woking 1 V 1 Halifax

Despite the fact that Vanarama National League is a mere step below the football league is miles away in terms of its customer friendly approach. Where else might one see a lady with a dog on the terraces?

IMG_1403Where else do stewards take the word of a paying customer as to what exactly is in a bag they are carrying in? Where else do Northern football fans, well Halifax ones from Yorkshire wear shorts to football matches in the winter?

IMG_1400This and a multitude of other curious spectacles were observed at the Woking v Halifax game this weekend.

Even the ground at Woking is an eclectic mix of five very different stands/terracing. Behind one goal is a huge stand, all-seater, that dominates the ground and from the road gives the impression of a large league ground.

IMG_1394Then along side one side of the pitch are two small ancient looking stands that I am sure were there 50 years ago, looking quaint but maybe not fit for purpose really being honest. IMG_1393Normal covered terracing behind the other goal is matched with low level terracing along the other side of the pitch. It is almost as though no one can decide which decade the ground lives in nor which level of football it is fit for. A nice surprise was that there was no segregation with Woking and Halifax fans mixing freely. Banter was heard though it was difficult to make out easily much of what the Halifax fans were saying. This for me is good though. I prefer the lack of segregation which encourages a normal approach to football instead of treating each game like some kind of warfare.

The only matter of concern is that £18 seems a lot to pay for entry to any level of non-league football, especially when the entrance to Ryman level games is often around £10 or less. The worst crime though was £4 for a burger.

All Football Fans Should Consider supporting The Charlton Petition

Many football clubs go through lean patches for various reasons, sometimes chance, sometimes bad management, sometimes overpayment of players. But there has been a plethora of clubs just so badly managed for reasons that often defy reality that deserve the support of all football fans.

As a Brentford fan we have had our share of problems with owners such as David W£bb in the past and have come through to be a much stronger club. Clubs like Exeter City are essentially fan owned. So my sympathies are with Charlton who have always been a decent a friendly club that can be epitomised by their own fans clearing The Valley of rubbish such that they move back in not so many years ago.

Charlton are going through tough times and the fans view is that there is serious mismanagement .They have started a site where most information can be found.

http://ourcharlton.org.uk

This is the essence of what they are saying, but I urge you to visit their website for the full information and to sign the petition. The photograph below is of Brentford who are lucky enough to have Matthew Benham as an owner, but without him who really knows where we would have been.

We want our Charlton back
We demand that the current owner of Charlton Athletic, Roland Duchatelet, takes every step to find a successor (or successors) who understands how to run a football club, is willing to invest sensibly in the team and appreciates the critical role of fans in building success. We want Roland out – before it’s too late.

Food Photographs

An eclectic mixture of food and drink photos from around Europe. Nothing special as they have all been taken with the I Phone which is not the best camera at all. But hopefully enough to make you hungry and thirsty.

A Missing Cat in Hersham

Saw this today as we walked greyhounds at the rescue centre. Spread the word please as hopefully the cat is somewhere. It is not mine but I understand how the owners might feel. Thank you.
