Brentford Fans Forum. A photographic record

Enough has been said about the excellent forum and the transparency with which questions were answered. There was also restraint shown by the fans in not asking any negative or difficult questions that also may have been on their mind. Please enjoy a few basic photos all sadly I Phone standard but nonetheless may give a view to those who were not there of what it was like.

The atmosphere was great, supportive and at times amusing, with the witty Peter Gilham in charge as always. Cliff Crown looking every inch a Premiership chairman. Honest and meaningful answers. David Weir looking like and sounding like a football coach. Great evening.

The Incredible Pride of a Brentford FC Supporter. Notts forest 1 Brentford 3

There is no exagerration to say that Brentford coulld have won this game far more easily than the score suggests, maybe 5-0 would have been a fair reflection. not so many years ago Brentford were in the basement division and collecting coins in buckets to pay players wages. Now we sit a few points outside the play off zone in the Championship.

Rather than words, a few photographs to demonstrate the size of club that Brentford last night beat.  long may this continue

Sylvan Augustus Ebanks-Blake

Sylvain Ebanks-Blake played 85 minutes for Brentford in their development fixture versus Huddersfield last saturday. First impressions were positive, a strong forward who used pace and strength to get in the box. He scored one goal and might have had others. Currently on trial with Bees. Looking through his playing history he has been successful scoring 25, 15 and 12 goals a season on 3 of the 5 seasons he spent with wolves 2008-2013 including in the Premiership. In 2013-14 he was an Ipswich player and made 10 appearances without scoring and is currently a free agent. Impressions are that if fit he could be a decent striker. Looking at the injuries he had they have been serious. Knee ligament damage and fractured fibula amongst others.

According to Wikipaedia he has had a few problems in his personal life.

In 2008 Ebanks-Blake was charged with causing actual bodily harm to a doorman in an incident at a Plymouth nightclub on 11 November 2007 while a Plymouth Argyle player. He was subsequently fined £1,350 with £650 costs and £500 compensation by Plymouth Crown Court on 4 July 2008, after admitting to having attacked the doorman with his girlfriend’s handbag causing a three-inch cut to his head.In March 2013 he was arrested and questioned by police in Birmingham on suspicion of witness intimidation but released without charge.

Will be interesting to see what Warburton makes of him. The question is his fitness and maybe a pay if you play approach might be better. His age is in favour being only 28 years age

Unusual Football Mascots

I never quite get football mascots really. Most adults are not interested nor excited by viewing a grown adult in the body of a bee, clown, shark, dragon and so on. But maybe I am at fault as the trend continues and if anything strengthens. Here we present Buzetter, a female Bee of the Brentford variety who cheerfully goes on her way each game shaking hands with the junior members of the crowd and making them smile. I am sure I have even seen her do a dance, but somewhat short of twerking. The question I am left with amongst others is what exactly would Jota, the new Brentford signing from Celta Vigo (pronounced Hotter) have made of this? I have my suspicions.

Brentford 2 Stevenage 0. Farewell to League 1 and Hello Fulham.

Too late to write much. But a real celebration today of all that is good about Brentford football club. In truth a meaningless game but one which meant everything to Bees fans. Farewell to League 1. Having watched Brentford for 51 years this season has meant a lot to me and surpasses any of the previous achievements. Brentford have gained promotion and equalled a club record since 1930 of 28 wins in a season. This is not the time to reflect on the season, that will come, but today we saw a decent game with a decent result 2-0 to Brentford. We saw good celebrations  and we hope that we did not witness any farewells to Marcello Trotta, George Saville nor Alan judge. We long ago forgot they were on loan. Just enjoy a few photos to remind us of a great day. action Bees Bees2 Bees22 Champagne Momen2t Champagne Momen22t Champagne Moment goal IMG_8233 IMG_8270 KOC KOC2 top of game Tr5otta Trotta Trotta2

Brentford Fans of Real Football! Conga and Pitch Invasion at Milton Keynes

Brentford fans have had plenty to grumble about over the last decade but the last few years have seen the club spiralling upwards at a frenetic pace. Crowds this season have almost doubled and the supportive atmosphere is almost palpable. Promotion to the Championship was finalised on a very Good Friday and the away game at Milton Keynes was at best a celebratory exercise. Somewhere in the region of 3,500 Bees fans made the trip and from visual inspection that seemed to make up at least 50% of the crowd. The crowd was given as over 10,000 though.

The game was almost irrelevant as the fans sang and played their way through the game. A conga down the aisle, a happy small pitch invasion at the end and a few amusing songs about the joys awaiting MK Dons next season with visits to Fleetwood!

A Trip to Milton Keynes Dons

There are many opinions about MK Dons and few of them favourable. Visiting their stadium today for the first time was a fairly fascinating experience.

  1. The ground although well signposted as it has no floodlights when one arrives it is really not at all clear that it is a football ground. There is a hotel at the front of the stadium and to a casual observer one is arriving at some multiplex DoubleTree Hilton hotel.
  2. For mere mortals there is no parking at the ground, although as the ground is within a major shopping area, how this is policed is not clear. What however is clear is that getting out of the shopping area parking after the football game might need a lifetime investment.
  3. The ground from the outside looks dull. Black and 50 Shades of Grey. Why?
  4. There are decent KFC and McDonalds on one corner but no signs and effectively hidden from the starving fans
  5. The ground inside was superb. I cannot fault anything about the inside other than the relative lack of toilets and the fact that the toilet floor was covered with some unspecified water, liquid and substances. Not good.
  6. Parking was actually easy opposite the ground in the industrial estates. Escape did take maybe 20 minutes though at the end of the game.

All in all, one of the best grounds I have ever been to.
