This is the time of year that I frantically try and complete a calendar for 2015. Here is the short list of my photos. It has been a strange photographic year really. Some memorable shots but maybe not as many as in past years so it has been relatively easy to get down to a final set of 22. all help appreciated in helping me choose the final 12.
On a recent business trip I stayed at the Dalmahoy Marriott hotel, a pleasant hotel about 8 miles from the Edinburgh city centre. I ate my meal in the bar area, called Zest, where one might either have a drink or have a normal dinner. My choice was Cottage pie, allegedly ” traditional cottage pie”. The cost 14.95£ which for me is fairly high firstly for cottage pie and secondly for any meal in a kind of bar, that does not equate to Gastropub by any stretch of imagination. Please judge for yourself if this size portion is reasonable and feel free to pass this onto your friends too.
The plate is shown clearly and is a small dinner plate!
A new painting entitled Poverty.
Please do spread the word on this new and exciting young artist. He comes from a hairdressing background, where hairdressing and not painting exist.
Anyone who has travelled to Spain knows that “mañana” culture is the norm giving a happy relaxed feel to the place. Wherever you go there are examples however of quirkiness, oddness or even madness/stupidity. Lets take the Miracle Bar in Benalmadena Costa where you can drink Paint. Vehicle registrations that consist of the number 0000. The most eveil appalling food in the so called ” VIP” lounge at Malaga airport. Enough, I thought so. The try some Rocked salad…….

Indianapolis is actually an interesting and under rated city, the obvious capital of Indiana. Full of bars and restaurants but maybe lacking a little of that extra excitement that comes with some other large USA cities. Nevertheless a good place to visit. Having today a little time to stroll around and see things in temperatures that at best were freezing and at worst well below with serious wind chill factor to add in.
Some curious things to report. Firstly in this weather the denizens of Indianapolis are being exhorted to sit outside to eat and drink their food and beer, not only that but on the corner of two busy streets.
Then as always there is portion size to consider. Something I clearly did not do well today. A cinnamon roll that could feed a family seemed to fall into a bag and then into my mouth for a mere…

I am sure that Chinese food is wonderful, it is just that to me it is not. I do not like the look of it, the smell of it, the taste of it nor the ingredients . Seemingly everything that I dislike gets included, mushrooms, prawns, shrimps, oysters, unspecified meats, raw meats, raw fish and so on……so although i seemed to survive 3 days there, i have lost weight, feel hungry and never really want to eat at/near/in a chinese restaurant again please. Things that I will avoid, Hairy Crabs, Angry Crabs, Pu Pu Platter, deep fried milk and in fact everything. And in fact my sympathy is with the crab, if I were a Dungeness crab, I too would be angry being plucked from my tank alive and eaten.
The saving grace were the chinese tarts, there were a lot of chinese tarts in the hotel, blueberry ones, and at 5 pm they were released from their captivity and plunged into the lounge, where I devoured them.
After not going there for almost 18 months now I am in some kind of withdrawal phase, but am guessing will be back there before too long. The reality is that the islands are beautiful but maybe 3-4 days are enough of this paradise. Make sure you go to Starfish Point too and drink beer at Royal Palms on the beach bar. Just enjoy these lovely photographs.
Ok. Can they or can they not say no to these kisses?
