The Last Redcurrants of 2015 from UK

One single plant has produced around £100 worth of redcurrants this year. I was somewhat amazed to find a few more the other day at the tail end of September. Tasted amazing. Thoroughly recommend a redcurrant plant for 2016.

Walton and Hersham 1 East Grinstead 1 . A poor game

As I have been watching Walton since the days of their FA Amateur cup win at Wembley, where then the bulk of their team was the team that became Wimbledon under Allen Batsford,  maybe it is fair comment to say that last saturday was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen there and indeed am struggling to think of anywhere else. I realise this is Ryman South but for 9£ standards need to be a little higher than sunday park football.

The ground is starting to look derelict with the terrace area along the pitch now boarded up for safety reasons. It is also fair to say that there was no air of positivity in the crowd, which recently hovers around 100 hardy souls.

Here are my photographic memories. The most memorable moment? The Walton keeper hitching his shorts up in some strange manner, which clearly put off the East Grinstead striker who subsequently took a poor penalty that was easily saved.  The second most memorable moment? The cheeseburger.

Do Any Football Players not have Tattoos?

When scrowling though photos after a game you see things that you missed at the time. I am struck by the number of players with various tattoos. A small selection from yesterday. IMG_0685IMG_0691

Nonleague Football Folks. A Photographic Medley

Watching non-league football sometimes allows one to watch some of the other spectators. The football action at Met Police V Bury Town was at times so one sided that one gentleman spent the whole half facing in one direction. Boys being boys behind the goal, eating and climbing and being boy like. Girls all walking together around the ground. Bury Town away fans taking their banner down as their team went 3-1 down in the first half. All good cabaret if the football was not good enough, and actually the football was excellent yesterday.

Met Police 4 Bury Town 1. Photos and brief report

Met Police are a club who have always played good football. They now seem embedded in the Ryman Premier and also have a decent ground.  Bury scored first with an unmarked header, but from then on it was one way traffic with some good Met Police goals. Both keepers were busy and have some good moments and also a few ghastly moments. enjoy.

Met Police 7 Cray Wanderers 1

A rather one-sided Ryman premier game where the home side were 5-0 up at half time and the second half became damage limitation from Cray.

Football at Met Police Football Ground East Molesey

Met Police play their football in the Ryman Premier league and since their promotion from Ryman south a few seasons ago have been solid performers and have sometimes even threatened to reach the play-offs.  Crowds are not massive and generally around 100-150. The ground however is one of the best in the Ryman League. You can see a whole series of photos on my website http://www.footballgroundz.co.uk but for those unfamiliar here are a few shots from yesterday.

What made me laugh a little was the guy who looks like he is trying to escape from the ground! Maybe he was a Cray fan as they lost 7-1

Carshalton 0 Cray 2

Bottom of the table clash played on a muddy pitch but at least played. Game was generally scrappy but hard fought. Carshalton’s young side let their heads go down after conceding and never really got back into the game. Despite that many promising things. A solid keeper and decent defence. There was a 10 minute spell when it seemed the rain was so bad that the referee might take the players off, but that never happened.
