Metropolitan Police win with almost the last kick of the game. Met Police 2 Needham Market 1. Ryman Premier

With only 4 games left this season each side had plenty to play for in this game played in bright sunshine at the excellent Imber Court. Met Police have come from being bottom of the division to potentially a place of safety but really needed 3 points, having been on a wretched run. Needham Market sit in the play off positions but with 4 sides on 58 points things were certainly tight. 00008725 00008720 00008730

The game was fairly even in the first half with a number of chances for both sides. Neither keeper though had real saves to make.

In the second half Needham Market took the lead but a Charlie Collins penalty evebed things up, until injury time when Roman Michael-Percil, who had been causing havoc in the Needham defence for the last 20 minutes scored a superb goal with a shot from inside the box.

Overall a great game , played at pace with none of the cyniscism seen often in league football. A special mention for the referee Damith Bandara, who was one of the best officials I have seen this season in league and non-league games. What I particularly liked was that he took no nonsense from the players nor the coaching teams, sending one of the Needham coaches off . This is a good referee and I look forward to seeing more of him. 00008728 00008687

Met Police 2 Kingstonian 1 .Photos

An intriguing game with a highly physical Kingstonian side against a more skilful and adept Met Police side. A few photos to enjoy. Quite a photographic melee. Few decent action shots. The massive Ricky Sappleton upfront for Kingstonian. The angry Tommy Williams, Kingstonian manager confronting the officials on the pitch at half time with finger waving. Bubble football at half time. An excellent lineswoman Lou Saunders. And generaly a decent game to watch at a great nonleague ground with real floodlights.

Met Police 1 Carshalton 0

This year has been a good one for Met Police as they sit on the verges of the Ryman Premier play offs. To those not familiar with non-league football, this is 3 promotions below the football league. The ground is a decent small ground near Thames Ditton with a car park and is on the same grounds as the social club for the Met Police. The only problem are small crowds and in fact only 115 arrived for this game and maybe 20 of those were visibly from Carshalton.

The game was as one-sided as a 1-0 game ever could be. Met Police missed a penalty, hit the bar and scored a single goal early in the second half. Realistically this was the last chance saloon for Carshalton who now can look forward to relegation with certainty. The season has been complex for them, with some decent, though apparently highly paid players moving on. One who will certainly move is their keeper Nick Hamann, the best keeper in this league and he kept Carshalton in the game in the first half with a series of superb saves. A conference level keeper in my humble view.
