Flooding at Painshill Park Cobham

For those who have never been there this is an amazing park for walks in all seasons.  Flooding has however taken its toll on some of the land. In all but one of these photos there should be no water at all.

Wild Crocus in Garden

This is the time of year when we discover what re-organisation the squirrels have done to the various bulbs and plants in the garden. There are always plenty of wild bluebells, a few daffodils and it seems a number of crocuses. Today the sun was out and the crocus selection looked like it would get trampled by cats, foxes and maybe myself, so a decision was made to bring some indoors.

Tooting 0 Sittingbourne 0

Decent game and end to end despite what the score suggests. The pitch was in extremely good condition and judging by the water being pumped out into the car park and hence into the drains, there is a good under pitch drainage system. Shame only 200 turned up to watch.

Flooding in Wales, Ross on Wye and Chepstow

Recently I was in Chepstow for a few days and got the opportunity to briefly see some of the ravages that the weather had brought to the area. It was raining needless to say. Rivers were high and fast, it was not clear where exactly the boundary of the river had originally been and in some cases new ” rivers” had arrived. In short it was wet. These few photos attempt to capture the wetness. The area itself is rural beauty and no doubt in summer provides beautiful walks. Tintern Abbey sits grey and mysterious. The disused Tintern railway station has been put to good use by turning it into a small kind of feature park for children with trains and an old signal box. Some of the scenes could have come right out of Tom’s Midnight Garden.

Paintings of Chepstow in Wales by Vincent Van B

Chepstow is a rural area on the edge really of Wales. The signs say Ross on Wye 27 miles. A small town with a large racecourse. As we are all aware recent weather has been wet. Here are a few visions of Chepstow and the surrounding areas in paint style.

Carshalton 0 Cray 2

Bottom of the table clash played on a muddy pitch but at least played. Game was generally scrappy but hard fought. Carshalton’s young side let their heads go down after conceding and never really got back into the game. Despite that many promising things. A solid keeper and decent defence. There was a 10 minute spell when it seemed the rain was so bad that the referee might take the players off, but that never happened.

Brentford Football Club Need Your Help. Send 1 e-mail!!

chris1957's avatarArcticterntalk.org

Brentford have been my football club since I was 6 years old. I have watched them since then almost every week with a belief that one day they might be a big club. Now almost 50 years on that potential is there. They need a new ground. The old one is atmospheric but small and cannot provide any additional facilities that clubs need. The new proposed ground looks superb and will seat 20,000. Hounslow Borough Council have approved the planning permission and now the government and Mayor need to approve.

Can you write a short email to the 3 folks below giving support for this? The reasons are clear! Thanks. Feel free also to share this blog with anyone who might do this. All you have to do is click the link, write the email with your reasons and give your name and address. You will make me happy!!!!
