Eat Blueberries to live for 1000 years ? Maybe

Arcticterntalk.org

Blueberries are one of the few fruits that are native to North America and In terms of U.S. fruit consumption, blueberries rank only second to strawberries in popularity of berries. The US cultivates around half of all global consumption of blueberries with another 30% from Canada. Maine produces around 25% of all US cultivation of blueberries.

Cultivation of blueberries was widespread among the Native American tribes throughout North America. European colonists learned about blueberries thanks to these Native American traditions and brought blueberry species back to Europe. Yet commercial cultivation of blueberries in Europe has been a relatively recent phenomenon limited to the 20th and 21st centuries. Thanks to increasing cultivation in the Southern Hemisphere — including South American countries such as Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay as well South Africa, New Zealand and Australia — fresh blueberries are now enjoyed throughout the year on many of the world’s continents.

Why in Music Photography Do You See so Many Black and White images?

Anyone browsing the internet for band photos or even looking at the walls in venues will  find various music photos of bands or musicians. The non-photographer might presume that the use of BW is solely to convey an old fashioned image that may take folks back to days of London clubs like Marquee. That may partly be true, as BW does convey a meaningfulness to a shot that colour may not. However in the majority of cases BW may be the end product because the lighting conditions are so complex.  Lets get this straight. I do not consider myself to be a gig photographic expert but merely someone who has photographed bands in the real world. If you are fortunate enough to shoot at the O2 or large venues then things will be very much easier and lighting friendly. So whats the issue?

Two Year Break

Two Year Break

  • The venue is essentially dark. ISO speeds under 12800 are not so common and as we know that leaves a potentially grainy image.
  • Lighting is variable across the stage and is rarely if ever even. So the light conditions on the stage may often be divided into 9 different squares or more.
  • Lighting colour also varies with usage of multiple coloured lights and different lighting colours in different parts of the stage.
  • Traditionally the photographer gets three songs to take their shots. I have no idea where this magic number comes from
  • Not all, and in fact few small venues , have photographer areas at the front, so often one is mingling with a pushing/heaving crowd, that for reasons that have escaped me sometimes throw beer everywhere.

So the working constraints are harder than many presume, that includes fellow photographers.

On the positive side gigs are rich in photographic opportunities with band members rarely looking dull and movement can be amazing. I would encourage all photographers to do a few gig shoots, the smaller bands are usually more than happy to use photos after, hence building reputation.

Fitbit Can Measure Post-Operative Recovery

Exercise measurement has become easier since the advent of Fitbit and similar tools. The hallowed amount of 10,000 steps a day is cited as an exercise aim.

Recovery from abdominal operations can be complex and sometimes difficult to measure quantitatively. The advice given is to gradually increase exercise and avoid anything strenuous . What would be more useful would be advice based on previous exercise levels.

Over the last year my average steps daily are around 15,000 with no day less than 10,000.

The day prior to my operation measured at 12,701. On the actual day of my hernia operation a mere 567 steps following general anaesthetic.

Day one was generally a slow day but 7172 steps was not too onerous. Slow steps if the truth is told. Day two was 12,172 steps and similar Day three.

Was the exercise excessive? I don’t think so. The steps were certainly made at a slower pace than normal so only give a rough estimate of exercise. Pain was not an issue for whatever reason.

So on balance by Day three I was approaching pre-operative exercise levels. Fitbit could be an option for monitoring in post-operative situations.

Waffle Jacks American Diner Wimbledon

This is a great place to have a breakfast or lunch. American style food at fair prices. Nice atmosphere .

Sausage bagel can be recommended especially in a jalopeno and cheese bagel . Waffle with ice cream and golden syrup was also far from shabby !

Wage Bills In Championship

Just seeing these numbers make one realise two things. It’s not all about money. Some teams with big budgets do badly and little old tinpot Brentford do rather well. One example might be Norwich with a wage bill triple that of Brentford or Middlesbrough which approaches five times that of Brentford

What Do You Find At Kings Cross In An Hour?

Kings Cross used to be a quintessentially dubious area. Often best avoided . Over the last few years with predominantly the regeneration of the old Kings Cross and St Pancras stations and the Eurostar arrival, things have changed enormously. 04db9798-c93b-427d-aec5-8051bf3f0164

Walking between Euston and Kings Cross, there are expensive hotels, The Pullman, looking expensive and being expensive. For a walk-in customer the rack rate for a room was advertised as £465 a night however for a suite you could pay over £600. New bars and restaurants and generally an area where it would be best to have some money in your pocket before arriving. The old offices at Kings Cross have been turned into a highly expensive hotel, The Renaissance, where Roman Abramovich’s car can often be seen parked outside. The large Kings Cross station and Renaissance hotel loom over the British Library looking like a modern day Hogwarts. c7baee56-9374-4644-b7df-ad071bbc680b

Further on one can walk over the Regents Canal and arrive at a complex of brand new restaurants and bars including Dishoom, for which an hours wait in a queue is the norm for a table.

Over the other side of the road away from the station dodgy dealings still take place with reports of drug dealers and drug users together with street workers. But step outside The Pullman hotel and walk in the opposite direction to Euston Road, and one finds a residential area, Somers Town. There are schools. community centres, playgrounds and a run down looking pub, The Cock Tavern. The impressive Crick Institute sits on the edge of Somers Town. ebbdbe23-ada5-44f6-96c4-863131a48663

This morning I had an hour to spare and went for a walk to get my 10,000 steps a day and just followed my nose in choosing where to go. The streets were clean, children were smiling, some children were even queuing to get into a school. A few odd objects adorned the streets including an old toilet. 91d09753-429f-4876-b4a9-fbaf43d30a05But this was a nice place, a safe place and a small haven in normality sitting in the midst of a bustling city, where normal people went about their everyday lives. 76067f37-e84d-4df9-819e-896a3b8dfbd6441395dd-44f3-4714-9b31-c93625c22ab6f78af91f-39ff-4aab-86d3-4643319bb584

Obesity and flying. Have a look at Allegiantair . Charge for overweight passengers who cannot sit in one seat. .

While in Indianapolis airport I was struck by an advert by a boarding gate . Essentially the threat was that by not booking in advance it would cost you $50 to take on board a really small carry on item. You can judge for yourself the reasonableness or not below in the photos. However I took a look at their website.

To confuse matters further…….Allegiant is a science fiction novel for young adults, written by the American author Veronica Roth and published by HarperCollins in October 2013.

However I found clear guidance about obesity and flying that put simply means that if you encroach on the next persons seat area then you must buy a second seat. Many might consider that reasonable.

This is essentially what I found

  1. Many customers may choose to use a seatbelt extension but occupy only one seat. These customers would not be asked to purchase…

Premier League Football Played In Toilets

Most of the premier league football I have seen indeed should be played live here . Amused me in the local pub.
