Brentford Defending as a Team

There were many positives from the Rotherham game and a few question marks remain over the defence, however what might have gone unnoticed was that Brentford as a team defended from the front.

Photographs during the game show Jota and Sawyers often in central defensive positions. Sawyers in fact seemingly outjumping the excellent John Egan. Sawyers work rate was excellent throughout as was his positional sense. 0000731800007325

Add to these observations KK taking up the near post position, where he cleared a certain goal, leaving the much faster Rico Henry to get out among the attackers to disrupt them at speed.

  2. Go on, admit this is a complete wind-up! Sawyers should never have been on the pitch in the first place. No application, no real effort, not an aggressive bone in his body. Were it not for the goal v QPR his contribution this season eould be instantly forgettable.

Er ……and the goal in the FACup….and lots of assists, lay off Sawyers, he doesn’t pick the team, he’s quality and that will come through in time, his pass leading up to the 4th goal was peachy…..get behinnd the shirt, whoever is wearing it……ffs
